Northern Lights Over Ty Nant
It may be dull old January, but the sky over Ty Nant was full of colour last night (Monday 19 January) as the Northern Lights made an appearance over the West Wales coast.
Looking downhill towards the sea from the front garden, we could see swirling pinks, yellows and reds, while above the roof of the house the sky was a swirling mass of green. The whole effect was both spooky and magical.
Otherwise known as the Aurora Borealis, the Northern Lights could be seen all along the Ceredigion coast here in West Wales, and were an indicator of a period of high solar activity when solar storms are interacting with the Earth's atmosphere. Photographers at nearby Aberporth and up the coast in Aberystwyth also caught some amazing images.
The lights last night were strong enough to be seen with the naked eye. Here are just some of the many photos we took to capture the magical moment.
